Crux

Privacy policy

Last updated:

TL;DR — By default, Crux runs entirely on your phone: sessions, workouts, notes and preferences stay local. If you enable cloud sync (optional and free, with an account), your data is hosted in Europe, encrypted in transit, and used for sync only. No analytics, no ads, never sold, never used to train AI.

Data controller

Crux is published by Nhut Hy Jimmy Nguyen, sole proprietor registered under SIRET 107 175 622 00011, located at 112 quai du Port de Choisy, 94600 Choisy-le-Roi, France. Contact: crux.app.support@gmail.com.

Without an account: everything stays on your phone

The app stores locally on your device:

  • Your climbing sessions (date, gym, type, grade, hold colour, duration)
  • Your workout sessions (exercises, timers, notes)
  • Your post-session condition (fatigue, finger condition, notes)
  • Your preferences (grading system, weekly goal, reminders)

Without an account, this data is never sent to any server. If you uninstall the app, it is deleted from your device. You can also export it as JSON at any time from Profile → Export my data.

With an account: cloud sync (optional)

The account is optional and only powers cloud sync (free) and, if you subscribe, the Crux Plus services. If you create one:

  • Data processed: your email address (authentication) and the logbook data listed above, so you can find it on all your devices.
  • Hosting: Supabase, on servers located in the European Union. Transfers are encrypted in transit (TLS).
  • Retention: as long as your account exists. Deleting the account (from the app or by email) removes your synced data from our servers.
  • Single purpose: sync. Your data is never analysed for advertising, never sold, never used to train AI.

What we don't do

  • No usage analytics (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
  • No ads, no advertising SDKs
  • No selling or sharing data with third parties
  • No profiling, no training AI models on your data

Website

The website you're on is a static site. It sets no cookies and collects no data. The host's minimal technical access logs (IP address, user agent) are kept briefly for security and debugging.

Email contact

The site's contact links open your mail client via mailto: — your email reaches us directly, no intermediate server receives or stores it. We use it only to reply to you.

Notifications

The app can send local notifications (training reminders) if you enable them. These notifications are generated locally by your phone's OS from your own data. No server sends them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure and portability. Without an account, you exercise them directly in the app (editing, JSON export, uninstalling). With an account, deleting the account erases your data from our servers; for any other request: crux.app.support@gmail.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr), the French supervisory authority.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the product evolves. The date at the top of the page is authoritative, and any significant change will be announced in an in-app release note.
